Pandhurna, Oct 18: A couple was killed on the spot and their three minor daughters were injured, with one of them requiring advanced medical care, after a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh’s Pandhurna district while the family was returning home after darshan.
The deceased have been identified as Vasudev Uike (40) and his wife Sunita Uike (35). Their daughters Vaishnavy (3), Sonu (7) and Rakhi (5) sustained injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment.

The youngest daughter, Vaishnavy, suffered a fracture and has been referred to Nagpur for advanced medical care. Sonu and Rakhi are being treated at Pandhurna Civil Hospital.
According to police, the family was travelling on a motorcycle and crossing the Tigaon four-lane highway when a speeding car hit their vehicle with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that Vasudev and Sunita died on the spot.
Passers-by and local residents rushed to the injured children’s aid and shifted them to hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred late at night when traffic on the highway was relatively light. Eyewitnesses said the car was travelling at high speed and did not stop after the collision. The driver fled the scene, leaving the family members lying on the road.
Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and launched a search for the vehicle and its absconding driver. Senior police officers said efforts were underway to trace the car through CCTV footage and other available leads along the highway.
The motorcycle involved in the accident has been seized, and a case has been registered. The local administration and hospital authorities are monitoring the condition of the three injured girls.
Doctors at Pandhurna Civil Hospital said Sonu and Rakhi were stable but remained under observation, while Vaishnavy required specialised treatment in Nagpur.
Residents have demanded strict action against the absconding driver and improved road safety measures on the Tigaon four-lane highway, where several accidents have reportedly occurred in the past.
Police said further investigation was underway to establish the exact sequence of events and identify the car involved in the accident.
