Washington, Oct 8: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday renewed his push for the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming that he has helped settle eight wars while expressing uncertainty over whether the prestigious award would be given to him.
Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump said the Nobel committee had a reputation for not awarding the prize to people like him.

Trump also referred to the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado in 2026. Machado later presented the prize to Trump, which he described as a gesture of mutual respect.
Since returning to office, Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for helping resolve several conflicts and has argued that his actions, including those involving Iran, merit recognition with the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump also criticised former US president Barack Obama, who received the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize during the first year of his presidency. Trump questioned the reasons for Obama's selection and said he believed his own record deserved greater recognition.
"I don't know what their decision's going to be," Trump said, adding that regardless of whether he receives the prize, he believed his efforts had been significant.
