New Delhi, Sep 7: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out a monthly toll pass priced at Rs 350, extending its digital FASTag Local Pass facility to 121 toll plazas across the country. The new pass is aimed at helping frequent commuters save time and money at toll plazas while making toll payments more streamlined. Applications can be made online through the Rajmargyatra mobile app or at designated points.
NHAI’s Rs 350 monthly toll pass
The monthly pass is expected to cut queues at toll plazas and reduce journey times for frequent road users. It will also help minimise cash handling, simplify reconciliation for toll operators and encourage digital transactions.
The initiative forms part of NHAI’s broader efforts to modernise toll management and improve the experience of people travelling on national highways.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement that the initiative is intended to make travelling on national highways more convenient and citizen-friendly.
How to apply
Applicants seeking the monthly pass will need to provide basic information, including vehicle details, along with identity verification through authorised systems. They must first check the eligibility criteria and review the applicable charges, terms and conditions for specific categories while completing the application.
Eligible commuters can apply through the Rajmargyatra mobile app.
Who is eligible?
The pass is available only to people residing within a 20-km radius of an eligible toll plaza. Those meeting the criteria can use the pass for unlimited trips through the designated toll plaza during a month, subject to the applicable rules.
For the unversed, the monthly pass is not valid at all toll plazas. The facility currently covers only 121 toll plazas, meaning commuters must check whether their toll plaza is included before submitting an application.
Documents required and verification
The application process for the pass has been moved online, according to reports.
The system uses consent-based integration with government digital platforms such as DigiLocker and VAHAN to verify details including the applicant’s residential address, vehicle information and the FASTag linked to the vehicle.
After the details are verified, eligibility is assessed through GIS-based verification. This determines whether the registered residential address falls within the prescribed 20-km radius of the toll plaza.
Applicants therefore do not need to submit physical documents separately to establish their eligibility.
Commuters can check the list of eligible toll plazas on the Rajmargyatra portal before applying.
