Mumbai, Sep 5: Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani on Saturday thanked employees as Jio completed 10 years of commercial operations, while outlining the company’s focus on technology and artificial intelligence (AI) for the decade ahead.
In an email to employees, Ambani said the pride he feels over Jio’s journey belongs more to its workforce than to him.
“Whatever pride I feel today belongs to you far more than it belongs to me,” Ambani said.

He recalled that Jio began a decade ago with a vision set by his father, Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, to make digital connectivity affordable and accessible to Indians.
“Ten years on, that conviction has changed India and I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude for how far we have come together,” he said.
Ambani said Jio now serves more than half a billion customers and has played a major role in building the foundation of Digital India at scale. He also credited the company with accelerating India’s transition to 5G and expanding connectivity among homes and businesses.
“We have built the foundation of Digital India at unprecedented scale, accelerated India’s transition to 5G, connected homes and businesses, and continue to expand what technology can make possible for millions of Indians,” he said.
He praised Jio employees for taking on difficult challenges, questioning established practices, developing new products and technologies and remaining committed to customers.
According to Ambani, the approach of thinking differently, moving quickly and keeping customers at the centre has shaped Jio since its inception.
Looking ahead, he said Jio’s ambitions now extend well beyond telecommunications. The company is developing technologies in India across connectivity, digital products, enterprise solutions and artificial intelligence.
“The opportunity before us is to continue making the benefits of technology accessible at scale, taking these technologies global and strengthening India’s position as a creator of technology for the world,” Ambani said.
He said the next decade would bring new possibilities as artificial intelligence transforms the way people and businesses work, create and solve problems.
“AI will transform how people and businesses work, create and solve problems,” he said.
Ambani added that connectivity would continue to evolve, while technology would enable applications that are still being imagined.
He said Jio’s responsibility would be to stay ahead of these changes while remaining committed to the principles that have guided the company — thinking big, building for India, putting customers first and making technology accessible to everyone.
“There is much to be proud of. And there is much more to build,” Ambani said, concluding his message by thanking employees for building Jio’s first decade and expressing confidence about building the next one together.
