Panaji, Sep 5: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday announced that eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 3,000 annually to cover the cost of three LPG cylinders under a state government scheme.
The financial assistance will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts from September 9. The scheme fulfils a promise made by Sawant during the 2022 Goa Assembly elections, when he had assured three free LPG cylinders annually to eligible households.

Forms to avail the benefit will be available at panchayats and with MLAs from September 5. Beneficiaries will have to submit the required application along with copies of their bank passbook, Aadhaar card and voter identity card.
Sawant said those who complete the application process and submit the necessary documents will receive the Rs 3,000 annual assistance in their bank accounts.
Meanwhile, the Goa government has prohibited fresh contractual appointments across its departments and government bodies under the newly notified Goa (Contractual Employees Regularization in Service) Rules, 2026.
The rules also introduce a one-time provision to regularise eligible contractual employees who have completed at least 10 years of continuous service.
Under the new rules, government departments and bodies cannot make fresh contractual appointments, except for specific requirements involving consultants, domain experts and personnel appointed for time-bound state or Central government schemes.
Those appointed under these exceptions will not be entitled to seek regularisation. Their contracts will end upon completion of the assigned work or tenure, and extensions or renewals will not be permitted. If the requirement continues, a fresh contract will have to be issued.
