Beltangady, Aug 31: A car collided with an electricity pole along the national highway near Chibidre on Sunday morning, causing the pole to break and disrupting power supply in several surrounding villages.

The car was travelling from Kottigehara towards Ujire when the driver reportedly lost control near Chibidre and crashed into an electricity pole on the roadside. The impact damaged the pole, while the occupants of the car escaped without serious injuries.

Following the accident, damage to the electricity pole led to an interruption in power supply in Chibidre and several neighbouring villages.

The frequent occurrence of such accidents at different points along the national highway has raised concern among residents. Last week, a vehicle reportedly rammed into and damaged an electricity pole in the same area before fleeing the spot.
