Karwar, Aug 29: INS Kadamba in Karwar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Karwar and Ankola to provide hands-on training to students in advanced technologies deployed at the naval dockyard.

The agreement was signed on Thursday in the presence of Rear Admiral Ravneesh Sait and Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Dileesh Shashi.

The initiative aims to equip ITI students with industry-relevant skills and familiarise them with the latest technologies used at a naval dockyard, thereby enhancing their employment prospects.

Rear Admiral Ravneesh Sait said the MoU was part of the Indian Navy's sustained efforts to forge meaningful collaborations with the citizenry.

"The agreement envisages offering training to ITI trainees in the various technical aspects involved in dockyard operations. They will gain firsthand knowledge of the latest technologies deployed at a naval dockyard. They will also receive training in these technologies that will boost their employment prospects, besides equipping them with essential skills," he said.

Sait said such collaborations would help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

The initiative is expected to provide ITI students with valuable exposure to advanced technical systems and practical work environments, while strengthening the link between technical education and industry requirements.
