Couple feared missing after allegedly jumping into Godavari River, 3-year-old son found on bridge

Andhra Pradesh, Aug 28: A married couple allegedly jumped into the Godavari River after leaving their three-year-old son on a bridge in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district on Thursday night.

The couple, identified as Dodda Sai (29) and Dodda Sirisha (28), reportedly arrived at the bridge on a scooter at around 10 pm. They allegedly left their child on the bridge before jumping into the river.

After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and took custody of the child and the scooter. A search operation was subsequently launched in the river to trace the couple.

According to police, Sai and Sirisha were residing in Bhimavaram. The reason behind their alleged act has not been ascertained so far.

Police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation. Further details regarding the whereabouts of the couple are awaited.
