Hyderabad, Aug 28: Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad have registered a case against two ‘X’ account holders for allegedly posting obscene deepfake videos targeting senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, police said on Friday.
The case was registered following a complaint by Telangana Congress MLC Venkat Balmoor, who alleged that vulgar deepfake videos targeting Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi were posted through two ‘X’ accounts.

The accounts were identified as Bharat Matrix (@xBharat) and Bhaskar Shastri (@Bhajos1S97051).
In his complaint, Balmoor alleged that the videos circulated through the accounts were contributing to the spread of misinformation and inflammatory content. He urged the police to investigate the content and trace those responsible for creating and circulating the videos.
Based on the complaint, Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police registered a case on August 27 under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
Indian Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib condemned the alleged targeting of women leaders and the family of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, describing it as an unacceptable form of political conduct.
The IYC said the individuals behind the accounts would be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law.
