Beltangady, Aug 11: A 30-year-old bike rider was killed on the spot and his pillion rider seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with a KSRTC bus at Neerachilume on the Dharmasthala-Ujire main road on Tuesday, August 11.
The deceased has been identified as Sanath, son of Babu Kulal, a resident of Parenki Pangal in Madanthyar.
The injured pillion rider, Bharat of Ballamanja, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital for further treatment.

According to reports, Sanath and Bharat were travelling towards Dharmasthala on the motorcycle for work when the accident occurred. The KSRTC bus was travelling from Dharmasthala towards Mangaluru when it collided with the motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.
The impact threw the bike rider onto the road, where he suffered severe blood loss and died at the spot.
Following the accident, traffic movement along the Dharmasthala-Ujire road was disrupted for some time, resulting in a traffic jam.
On receiving information, personnel from the Belthangady Traffic police station rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection and cleared the road for smooth movement of vehicles.
A case has been registered at the Belthangady Traffic police station.
