Dr Akhter Husain named Karnataka Oral Health Vision Committee chairperson

Mangaluru, Aug 10: Prof Dr Akhter Husain, MDS, FDSRCPS (Glasgow), has been appointed chairperson of the vision committee for the State Oral Health Programme under the department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka.

Dr Akhter Husain is the director of the Centre for Craniofacial Anomalies and former dean and principal of Yenepoya Dental College, Yenepoya University. He is also a past president of the Indian Orthodontic Society.

The vision committee will advise the Karnataka government on strengthening oral healthcare services across the state. The committee will focus on key areas including prevention of oral diseases, early detection, improving accessibility to oral healthcare and integrating oral health services with general healthcare.

The appointment is expected to contribute towards strengthening the state’s oral healthcare system and promoting better awareness and preventive dental care among the public.
