Udupi, Jul 28: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi successfully hosted AICS Table Tennis Tournament- Smash Quest 2026 on July 27 in the school premises, bringing together talented young paddlers from schools across the district.
The inauguration of the tournament was held in the school auditorium with great enthusiasm. The principal ceremoniously escorted the esteemed dignitaries to the venue, led by the resounding school band. The dignitaries included the chief guest, Srirama Kaudoor, an internationally renowned table tennis umpire, the school administrator Sr Maria Roopa A C, joint secretary Sr Preethi Crasta, superior of St Cecily’s Convent Sr Priya Maria A C, Heads of sister institutions Sr Sahaya Mary and Sr Mayola A C, and the PTA vice president, Sushma S.
The ceremony commenced with an ardent prayer dance invoking God’s blessings for the success of the tournament. The principal extended gracious welcome to the distinguished guests and participants and introduced the chief guest of the inaugural to the audience. Thereafter, Sr Preethi Crasta AC offered her words of blessings for the mega event and wished every participant success. The tournament was then formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Shrirama Kaudoor encouraged the budding players to pursue excellence through dedication, discipline and perseverance. He reminded them that true sportsmanship lies not merely in winning but in respecting opponents, accepting victories and defeats with grace, and constantly striving to improve.
Tr Vidya proposed the vote of thanks towards the conclusion of the inaugural and then the participants were escorted to the table tennis courts for the commencement of the matches.
A total of 18 CBSE and ICSE schools under the aegis of AICS, Udupi district, participated in the Junior and senior categories for both boys and girls. The tournament witnessed exciting rallies, remarkable determination and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the day.
At the end of the keenly contested matches, in the Junior Girls’ category Madhav Kripa School, Manipal was declared Winner while Vidyodaya Public School was the Runner-up. In the Juniors Boys’ category Madhav Kripa School, Manipal was declared Winner while Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar was the Runner-up.
In the Senior Girls’ category Madhav Kripa School, Manipal was declared Winner while Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar was the Runner-up. In the Senior Boys’ category, Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar was declared Winner while Sri Siddhivinayaka Residential School, Hattyangadi was the Runner-up.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Vincent D Costa, principal of Sharada Residential School, Kunjibettu, who distributed the trophies and medals to the winners.In his keynote address as the chief guest of the valedictory ceremony, Vincent DCosta. In his keynote address, he congratulated the champions and all the participants for their spirited performances. He urged the students to cherish both victories and setbacks as stepping stones towards excellence, reminding them that discipline, perseverance and humility are the true hallmarks of a successful sportsperson.
The memorable sporting event concluded with a vote of thanks by the PET, Jyothi Latha Lobo followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
