Washington, Jul 24: A US Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance's security detail has been placed on administrative leave amid an internal investigation into allegations of leaking confidential information related to the Vice President's travel plans.

According to CNN, the agent is under administrative review and could also face a criminal inquiry. Authorities have reportedly identified an individual suspected of disclosing sensitive operational information.

Confirming the investigation, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said the agency would not tolerate any conduct that compromises operational or information security.

"A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security," Guglielmi said.

While declining to comment on the specifics of the case, he stressed that any action undermining the trust between a protectee and the security team is incompatible with the agency's mission.

According to CNN, the alleged leak was linked to a recent report detailing the impact of Vance's personal travel schedule on his security team. The report included information about a planned Marine Corps helicopter trip with his son to a golf lesson, which was later cancelled.

The development comes days after JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance.
