New Delhi, Jul 24: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday claimed that several of its leaders could be arrested later in the night, while asserting that its protest at Jantar Mantar would continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns over the examination paper leak controversy.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said the party had received information indicating that some of its leaders could be taken into custody. He appealed to supporters to keep the agitation alive across the country even if senior party members were arrested.

"According to new inputs, CJP team members may be arrested tonight," Dipke told protesters.

Reiterating the party's stand, Dipke said the dharna at Jantar Mantar would not be withdrawn until Pradhan stepped down from his post. He made the remarks ahead of the party's scheduled meeting with senior BJP leaders.

He also maintained that the protest would continue despite the Centre initiating talks with the party over its demands.

Dipke welcomed climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's decision to end his 26-day hunger strike, saying the development brought relief to the protesters.

"Our dharna at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. We are relieved that Sonam Wangchuk has ended his hunger strike. His life is valuable for the nation," he said.

Wangchuk called off his fast earlier on Friday after receiving assurances from the government on issues related to the NEET paper leak controversy.
