New Delhi, Jul 21: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Tuesday after repeated disruptions and loud sloganeering by Opposition members prevented the House from conducting scheduled business. The Lower House will now reconvene at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Tuesday's proceedings were interrupted three times as Opposition MPs continued protesting inside the House, ignoring repeated appeals from the Chair to restore order.

During the post-lunch session, presiding officer Dilip Saikia urged members to return to their seats and allow discussions under Rule 377 to proceed. Despite multiple requests to maintain parliamentary decorum, Opposition lawmakers continued raising slogans in the well of the House, forcing another adjournment that ultimately ended the day's sitting.

Earlier in the morning, Speaker Om Birla had suspended proceedings until noon after the House witnessed continuous disruptions soon after it assembled.

Appealing for cooperation, Birla told members that every party would have an opportunity to present its concerns if the House functioned normally. However, the protests continued, leaving the Chair with no option but to adjourn the proceedings.

When the House resumed at noon, the situation remained unchanged. Presiding officer Sandhya Ray repeatedly appealed to protesting members to maintain order, but the sloganeering persisted, resulting in another adjournment.

The repeated disruptions mirrored the scenes witnessed on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on Monday, when proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were repeatedly halted due to Opposition protests.

Opposition parties have been demanding discussions on several issues, including alleged examination paper leaks and the Cockroach Janta Party-led protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, leading to continued interruptions in parliamentary proceedings.
