Mangaluru, Jul 21: St Theresa's School, Bendur, once again showcased its excellence in chess with an outstanding performance at the CISCE Zonal Chess Tournament 2026–2027. Demonstrating remarkable concentration, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship, the young Theresians brought home several individual honours and a notable team achievement.
In the under-14 girls category, Rizelle Alida D'Souza (class VIII B) emerged as the champion, securing first place and earning selection to represent Zone H at the CISCE Regional Chess Tournament 2026–2027. Anne Rachel D'Souza secured 6th place, while Kiyara Prakash Sheka finished in 7th place.

In the under-14 boys category, Magizhnan Rajasekaran secured 7th place, and Sohan Peyton Fernandes finished in 9th place. In the under-17 boys category, Shaanan Ethan Fernandes secured 12th place.
Adding to the school's success, the under-14 Boys' team emerged as the runners-up, reflecting the team's dedication, perseverance, and competitive spirit.
The Theresian family has extended its heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their commendable achievements. Anitha has been appreciated for her dedicated guidance, meticulous preparation, and unwavering support in accompanying and mentoring the students throughout the tournament.
