St Aloysius University holds engineering students induction programme

Mangaluru, Jul 21: The School of Engineering (SOE) at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) formally inaugurated the first-year engineering classes and the Students’ Induction Program (SIP) for the incoming Batch of 2026–30 on Monday, July 20. The grand inaugural ceremony took place in the L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block. The event was organized under the guidance of convenor Dr Geetha M Pinto, associate dean at SOE, and co-convenor Dr Praveen Prakash D’Souza, assistant professor at SOE.

The morning commenced on a solemn and auspicious note with an invocation prayer seeking divine blessings for the students' four-year academic journey. This was followed by a vibrant welcome dance, a formal welcome address, and the traditional lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests on stage to mark the beginning of the new session.

Dr T Lazar Mathew, senior advisor at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address to the freshers, Dr Mathew highlighted the evolving landscape of engineering education and the critical role of innovation. Prof ThLic Miloš Lichner SJ, rector of the University of Trnava, attended as the guest of honour and inspired the young minds with his address. Presiding over the ceremony, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), delivered the Presidential Address, encouraging the students to strive for academic excellence, character building, and holistic development.

Following the formal inaugural function and a vote of thanks, the programme transitioned into technical and orientation sessions. After a brief tea break, chief guest Dr T Lazar Mathew and Dr Ruban led insightful sessions designed to orient the new batch toward their professional engineering aspirations. The event set an encouraging and motivated tone for the freshers as they stepped into their higher education journey.
