Mangaluru: St Aloysius PU College organises empowerment, awareness session

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 20: St Aloysius Pre-University College organised an empowerment and awareness session for I PU girl students in Loyola Hall under the aegis of the Nari Shakti Association (Women's Forum). The session aimed to empower young women with the knowledge, confidence, and values needed to make informed decisions, uphold self-respect, and lead safe and responsible lives.

The resource person, Jennifer Carlo, assistant professor of Clinical Psychology at Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences, conducted the session with warmth and professionalism. Drawing on her expertise in clinical psychology, student counselling, and mental health, she addressed issues that are highly relevant to young women as they navigate the challenges of college life.

She encouraged students to value themselves, establish healthy personal boundaries, and make wise choices in their relationships and interactions. Emphasising the importance of personal safety in both physical and digital spaces, she advised students to exercise caution while using social media and strongly cautioned them against sharing personal or private photographs online. She also urged them to seek timely guidance from parents, teachers, mentors, or other trusted adults whenever they faced challenges or difficult situations.

Addressing the gathering, Kiran Shetty, dean of science, highlighted the importance of discipline, responsible conduct, and personal integrity. She encouraged the students to reflect on the insights shared during the session and incorporate them into their daily lives to foster holistic growth and well-being.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and engaging with the practical guidance offered. It created greater awareness about personal safety, emotional well-being, digital responsibility, and the importance of making thoughtful and informed choices.

The programme concluded on a positive note, leaving the participants better equipped to navigate college life with confidence, responsibility, and resilience. Deepthi Rani M K, Bhavyashree, and Amanda Reem Rodrigues of the Nari Shakti Association coordinated the programme.
