Mangaluru, Jul 19: Bringing immense national pride to Coastalwood, the Tulu film 'Imbu' has bagged the prestigious Best Tulu Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards.
Produced by Prashanth Rai and helmed by director Shivadhwaj Shetty, the poignant drama explores the collision of rural tradition and modern technology. Prior to this major national recognition, the film garnered significant critical acclaim after being officially selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama category at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Starring veteran actor Naveen D Padil in the lead role of Balanna, the film follows a devout, illiterate village priest whose life unravels after he acquires a mobile phone and falls victim to a cyber scam. The movie highlights his moving journey to rebuild his life, re-establish trust, and rediscover faith, underscoring the critical need for digital literacy in today's digital age.
The film features a talented cast including Naveen D Padil, Chandrakalaa Udupi, Harish Vasu Shetty Mumbai, Kasaragod Chinna, Thamma Lakshmana, Prashamsa Shetty, Pushparaj Bolar, and Udaya Alva Iddya Surathkal.
