Mangaluru, Jul 13: Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, enthusiastically celebrated Vanamahotsava on the college campus with the objective of promoting environmental conservation, biodiversity, and the importance of afforestation. The programme witnessed the gracious presence of eminent dignitaries from the Srinivas Group, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students held on July 11.
The programme was inaugurated by president of A Shama Rao Foundation and chancellor of Srinivas University, Dr Srinivas Rao, in the august presence of secretary and trustee member, Er Mitra S Rao, member of the Board of Governors, Vijayalakshmi R Rao, principal & director of Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Dr A R Shabaraya, and NSS coordinator, Dr Shripathy D The dignitaries planted saplings on the campus, symbolizing their commitment to environmental sustainability and encouraging students to protect and nurture nature.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Srinivas Rao emphasized the vital role of trees in maintaining ecological balance and urged students to actively participate in environmental conservation activities. Er Mitra S Rao highlighted the importance of developing a green campus through collective responsibility and sustainable practices. Vijayalakshmi R Rao appreciated the efforts of the institution in organizing such meaningful programmes that instill environmental values among young minds.
Dr A R Shabaraya welcomed the gathering and reiterated the institution's commitment to promoting eco-friendly initiatives through NSS and other extension activities. Dr Shripathy D, NSS coordinator, coordinated the programme and motivated the students to contribute towards creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment.
As part of the Vanamahotsava celebration, several medicinal, ornamental, and indigenous tree saplings were planted across the campus by the dignitaries, faculty members, and NSS volunteers. The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect the planted saplings and actively contribute to environmental conservation for a sustainable future.
