Lucknow, Jul 8: A viral video purportedly showing a private bus driver using a mobile phone while driving at high speed on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway has sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns over passenger safety.
The video, shared on social media platform X, allegedly shows the driver operating the bus with both elbows on the steering wheel while watching content on a mobile phone, occasionally glancing at the road. The conductor, seated beside him, is also seen engrossed in his mobile phone instead of attending to passengers.

According to the post accompanying the video, the bus was travelling at nearly 100 kmph on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The person who recorded the clip claimed to have boarded the bus at Alambagh and was travelling to Delhi.
The post further alleged that such negligent behaviour is common among several private bus operators once they enter the expressway.
The authenticity of the video, including the date of the incident and the identity of the bus operator, could not be independently verified.
The footage has nevertheless triggered strong reactions online, with many users demanding strict action against the driver and conductor.
Several social media users called for the driver's licence to be cancelled and urged authorities to prosecute those responsible for endangering passengers' lives. Others expressed concern that similar practices may be prevalent among both private and government bus operators.
Some users also questioned why fellow passengers did not intervene or object to the driver's conduct, stressing that ensuring road safety is a shared responsibility.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over distracted driving and the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations to prevent accidents on India's highways.
