Water supply reaches hill homes in Chiplem

Canacona, Jul 4: Residents of the hilly areas of Chiplem in Poinguinim village have begun receiving piped water supply after authorities overcame technical challenges that had earlier prevented the service from reaching their homes.

While a water tank installed a few months ago had enabled supply to most households in the area, several houses located at higher elevations remained uncovered due to the difficult terrain.

Taking note of the difficulties faced by the affected residents, Goa Tribal Welfare Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar directed officials of the water supply department to resolve the technical issues and extend the facility to the remaining households.

Following the successful completion of the work, water supply has now been provided to the hilltop homes, bringing relief to the villagers.

During his visit to Chiplem on Thursday, Tawadkar interacted with local residents and assured them that a new road would also be constructed once the required no-objection certificate (NOC) procedures for the land are completed.
