Mangaluru, Jun 26: A workshop titled ‘Decoding Student Behaviour and Supporting Mental Health’ was organised for teaching staff and wardens from both campuses of Expert PU College, Valachil.
The resource person was Dr Ravichandra Karkal, consultant psychiatrist, professor and HOD, department of psychiatry, Yenepoya Medical College, Mangaluru. Dr Ravichandra emphasized that keen observation of student behaviour can reveal underlying emotions. He noted that behavioral changes often signal deeper issues students may be facing. He also addressed key factors contributing to stress, depression, and other mental health concerns, and discussed effective ways to respond and support students. The session was highly informative and equipped participants to better understand student behaviour, recognize emotional cues, respond appropriately, and refer students to mental health professionals when needed.









Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions; Subramanya Udupa, principal; and Druthi V Hegde, vice principal (administration), were present. Pratheeksha, lecturer in physics, welcomed the dignitaries and participants, proposed the vote of thanks, and compered the programme.
