Couple dies of electric shock while trying to save each other in Telangana

Nizamabad, Jun 22: A couple died after suffering an electric shock at their residence in Ootpally village of Nizamabad district on the night of June 21, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred around 11 pm when the woman reportedly came in contact with electricity at their house. According to police, her husband attempted to rescue her but also suffered an electric shock in the process. Both died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev (45) and his wife Jyothi (41).

Police officials said three children were present inside the room at the time of the incident and were safe.

A police official said, “The wife first received an electric shock, and when her husband tried to save her, he was also electrocuted. Both died on the spot. There were three children in the room, and they are safe.”

The bodies of the couple have been shifted for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
