Goa senior citizen booked after pet cat allegedly beaten to death

Panaji, Jun 14: Goa Police have registered a case against a senior citizen for allegedly beating a domestic cat to death in the Socorro area of North Goa, officials said.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police and Goa Police spokesperson Nilesh Rane, the FIR was filed following a complaint lodged by a woman resident of Socorro, who alleged that her pet cat was subjected to a fatal assault.

The incident reportedly took place on Friday at around 10.40 a.m. in the Zoswadoo locality of Socorro. As per the complaint, the accused allegedly attacked the cat with a wooden stick, causing severe injuries that resulted in the animal's death.

Based on the complaint, Porvorim Police registered an FIR and initiated legal proceedings against the accused.

Police said the investigation is currently underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident and gather further evidence.

The case is being investigated by PSI Sachin Shirodkar.
