Hyderabad, Jun 10: Cyberabad Police have solved the murder of a 36-year-old woman and arrested her husband for allegedly orchestrating the crime by hiring a gang from Bihar to eliminate her.
The prime accused, identified as Anil Kumar Sah, a native of Bihar, was taken into custody for allegedly paying Rs 2 lakh to contract killers to murder his wife, Mina Devi. Police have also arrested one member of the hired gang, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused.

Mina Devi was found murdered on the night of May 30, 2026, in a secluded area near Gandigudam village under the jurisdiction of IDA Bollaram Police Station.
Initially, Anil Kumar attempted to mislead investigators by claiming that he and his wife were returning home from a vegetable market on a motorcycle when the vehicle developed a mechanical problem near a meter manufacturing unit. According to his version, three unidentified men emerged from nearby bushes, forcibly dragged his wife away, killed her, and assaulted him when he tried to intervene before fleeing with his motorcycle.
However, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. Srinivas stated on Wednesday that the entire story had been fabricated by the husband. Investigators found that Anil had staged the crime scene to create the impression that unknown assailants had abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered his wife. He also inflicted minor injuries on his hands and back to support his false narrative and divert suspicion.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, Sonu Lal Kumar. Following the registration of the case, police constituted eight special teams to investigate the murder from multiple angles.
During the course of the investigation, officers uncovered evidence pointing to the husband’s involvement. Interrogation and technical analysis ultimately exposed the conspiracy behind the killing.
Police said Anil harboured resentment towards his wife for several years. He allegedly believed that she was transferring most of his earnings to her parental family. Investigators further revealed that after Anil suffered an accident that left him physically weakened, he felt neglected by his wife, which deepened his grudge and led him to plan her murder.
According to police, Anil approached Rinku Kumar, an acquaintance from Bihar with a criminal background, and offered him Rs 2 lakh to carry out the killing. Rinku reportedly accepted the proposal and, along with associates Ranjan and Neeraj, travelled to Hyderabad on May 29.
After meeting Anil and finalising the plan, the trio allegedly executed the murder on May 30. Following the crime, they fled with the victim’s motorcycle, later abandoning it on the outskirts of the city before escaping to Bihar by private bus.
One of the accused, Ranjan, was apprehended from his native village in Chanpatia, located in West Champaran district of Bihar, and brought to Hyderabad on a transit warrant. Police teams are continuing efforts to arrest the remaining absconding accused, Rinku Kumar and Neeraj.
Further investigation is in progress.
