CBSE extends Class 12 re-evaluation application window; portal to close tonight

New Delhi, Jun 7: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a final reminder to Class 12 students seeking verification of marks and re-evaluation of answer sheets, stating that the application window for post-result services will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.

The board had initially fixed June 6 as the deadline for submitting applications but later extended it by one day following requests from students and reports of technical glitches on the online portal. The extension also comes amid a sharp increase in applications after the announcement of the Class 12 examination results.

In a message shared on social media platform X, CBSE urged students to complete the process before the deadline, emphasizing that no further submissions would be accepted once the portal closes.

The verification and re-evaluation mechanism forms an important part of CBSE's post-result review system, enabling students to check the accuracy of the evaluation of their answer scripts. Under the existing process, candidates must first obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. Based on their review, they may then apply for verification of marks or seek re-evaluation of specific answers.

The board said the procedure is intended to ensure transparency and provide students with an opportunity to address any concerns regarding the assessment of their examinations.

This year, CBSE expanded the use of its On-Screen Marking system, a technology-driven evaluation process aimed at improving efficiency and minimizing manual errors. Despite these measures, a number of students reportedly flagged issues including unclear scanned answer sheets and alleged omissions in marking, leading to a rise in requests for re-evaluation.

According to available figures, more than 70,000 applications have already been submitted under the post-result review process, highlighting the significant demand for verification and reassessment.

Students applying for these services are required to pay prescribed fees, including separate charges for verification and per-question re-evaluation requests. The board has clarified that the outcome of the re-evaluation process will be treated as final, and no further appeals will be entertained after the revised marks are declared.
