Washington, Jun 6: The United States military has said that Iran launched seven ballistic missiles towards Kuwait and Bahrain just hours after US forces intercepted Iranian attack drones and carried out strikes on Iranian radar installations.

According to the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM), the missiles were fired following an escalation in tensions in the Gulf region, including Iranian drone launches towards the Strait of Hormuz.

“Initial assessments indicate six of the missiles launched by Iran were intercepted and a seventh did not reach its intended target,” CENTCOM said in a statement.

The command added that there were no reports of casualties or injuries among US personnel stationed in the region.

“There are currently no reports of harm to US personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false,” CENTCOM stated.

Earlier, US forces reportedly shot down Iranian attack drones that were launched towards the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route. The US military also said it had struck Iranian radar sites as part of its operations.

The developments mark a further escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and the United States, raising concerns over regional security and the safety of maritime traffic in the Gulf.

Authorities in Kuwait and Bahrain have not immediately reported any damage or casualties linked to the missile launches. Further assessments are underway as regional tensions continue to remain high.
