Hyderabad, Jun 5: Actor Naga Chaitanya has taken on a new role behind the camera, announcing his debut as a producer with the highly anticipated second season of the thriller series Dhootha.
The new chapter of the popular web series was formally launched on Friday with a traditional pooja ceremony at Annapurna Studios. The series will once again be directed by Vikram Kumar and stars Chaitanya alongside Parvathy Thiruvothu and Priya Bhavani Shankar.
Sharing photographs from the launch event on social media, Chaitanya expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter both as an actor and a producer.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in the actor's career, as Dhootha 2 becomes his first production venture.
Co-star Priya Bhavani Shankar also shared glimpses from the ceremony, expressing her enthusiasm about reuniting with the team and thanking veteran actor Nagarjuna for attending the event and extending his support.
Nagarjuna, who was present as the chief guest, inaugurated the shoot by giving the ceremonial clap for the first shot and conveyed his best wishes to the cast and crew.
The first season of Dhootha, which premiered on Prime Video, received widespread appreciation for its gripping storyline and suspense-filled narrative. Directed by Vikram Kumar, the series featured Chaitanya, Prachi Desai, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Priya Bhavani Shankar in pivotal roles.
The story followed investigative journalist Sagar, portrayed by Naga Chaitanya, whose life spirals into danger after he discovers a mysterious link between newspaper articles and tragic events. As he becomes entangled in a murder investigation, he is forced to uncover the truth while battling a series of shocking twists and revelations.
The show's blend of mystery, psychological suspense and supernatural elements earned it a strong fan following, paving the way for a much-awaited second season.
While the first installment was produced by Sharrath Marar, the upcoming season will see Naga Chaitanya joining the production team, adding another dimension to his involvement in the franchise. Fans are now eagerly awaiting further details about the plot and release schedule of Dhootha 2.
