Hrithik eyes grey-shaded role, says directors see him only as hero

Mumbai, Jun 4: Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has revealed that he is eager to take on a morally complex character similar to Zaffar from the 2009 film Luck By Chance, saying filmmakers often prefer casting him in conventional heroic roles.

Sharing a candid note on Instagram alongside a photograph from his Paris vacation, Hrithik reflected on the kind of role he would like to portray next.

“Just got asked what's the kind of role I'm looking for. And I surprised myself when it came to me. Remember Zaffar from Luck By Chance? That's the one. I'd jump on something like that,” he wrote.

The actor then added, “But directors only wanna see me play the good guy. Sad.”

Zaffar, though a relatively brief role in Zoya Akhtar’s directorial debut, remains one of the memorable characters from the critically acclaimed film. The character's grey shades and unpredictability appear to be the kind of challenge Hrithik is now seeking.

Fans quickly responded to the post, sharing their favourite performances by the actor. Many praised his portrayal of Emperor Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar, while others said they would welcome seeing him in antagonist or unconventional roles.

Hrithik is currently busy with Krrish 4, one of the most anticipated projects of his career. Apart from reprising his role in the popular superhero franchise, the actor is also set to make his directorial debut with the film.

The announcement was made last year by filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who revealed that the project would be jointly backed by him and Aditya Chopra.

Krrish 4 is currently under production. Hrithik was last seen in War 2 alongside Jr NTR.
