‘Irumudi’ glimpse out: Ravi Teja’s emotional father role hints at powerful transformation

Hyderabad, Jun 3: The makers of director Shiva Nirvana’s upcoming film Irumudi, starring Ravi Teja in the lead role, unveiled a glimpse video on Wednesday, offering audiences an emotional first look at the actor’s character and storyline.

Ravi Teja shared the video on his X handle, greeting fans with “Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa,” and introducing what he called the “heart of Irumudi.” The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in August 2026.

The glimpse opens with a warm portrayal of Ravi Teja as a devoted father, lovingly caring for his young daughter. Their bond is shown to be strong and affectionate, with the child appearing happy and secure in his presence. However, the tone soon shifts as the narrative hints at a tragic turn in their lives.

Following the emotional upheaval, Ravi Teja’s character is shown slipping into distress and alcohol dependency. A pivotal moment arrives when his daughter urges him to give up drinking, prompting a spiritual awakening. He is then seen embracing devotion to Lord Ayyappa and wearing the sacred mala, symbolising his attempt to rebuild his life through faith and discipline.

The film, earlier referred to as #RT77 during production, marks Ravi Teja’s 77th project and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The title Irumudi carries spiritual significance, representing a devotee’s sacred offering and surrender to Lord Ayyappa.

Ravi Teja, speaking earlier about the project, described it as a story that arrives at the right moment in his career, expressing gratitude for being part of a narrative driven by belief and emotional depth.

Sources close to the production say director Shiva Nirvana has crafted a screenplay that blends devotion, family emotion and mass appeal. At its core lies a father–daughter relationship that drives the protagonist’s transformation, offering Ravi Teja a role that is both intense and different from his previous work.

The film also features Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead, with Baby Nakshathra playing Ravi Teja’s daughter. The ensemble cast includes Sai Kumar, Ajay Ghosh, Ramesh Indira and Swasika in key roles.

Backed by producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, Irumudi brings together a strong technical team, with GV Prakash Kumar composing the music, Vishnu Sarma handling cinematography, Sahi Suresh leading production design, and Prawin Pudi overseeing editing. Shiva Nirvana has written the story, screenplay and dialogues, while Naresh Babu P serves as script coordinator.
