DMK pays tributes to Karunanidhi on his 103rd birth anniversary

Chennai, Jun 3: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin, along with senior party leaders and ministers, paid rich tributes to former Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi on the occasion of his 103rd birth anniversary on Wednesday.

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, Minister Rajmohan offered floral tributes to Karunanidhi's portrait during a commemorative event held in Chennai.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister and DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin paid homage to his grandfather by offering floral tributes at the party's headquarters, 'Anbagam'.

Stalin later led tribute ceremonies at Karunanidhi's memorial on Marina Beach, where ministers, party functionaries and cadres gathered to honour the late leader's contribution to Tamil Nadu's political and social landscape.

In a message shared on social media, Stalin remembered Karunanidhi as a tireless leader who worked relentlessly for the welfare of Tamil people until his final days.

Reflecting on recent political developments, the DMK chief called upon party workers to remain resilient and united, asserting that the movement would overcome challenges and script new electoral successes in the future.

He expressed confidence that the party would continue to advance along the path laid down by Karunanidhi and reaffirmed the DMK's commitment to its ideological principles.

Udhayanidhi Stalin also paid tribute to the former DMK president, recalling his deep bond with party cadres and his enduring influence on generations of workers.

He reiterated the party's resolve to continue working according to Karunanidhi's vision and expressed confidence that the DMK would once again achieve electoral success.

The Indian National Congress also remembered Karunanidhi on his birth anniversary, describing him as a visionary leader, prolific writer and champion of social justice whose contributions continue to inspire people across the country.

Large numbers of DMK workers, supporters and alliance partners participated in commemorative events held across Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu, paying homage to the veteran leader who played a defining role in shaping the state's political history for several decades.
