Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, Jun 1: Prime Video on Monday unveiled the trailer of its upcoming investigative crime thriller Raakh, starring Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir in lead roles.

Set in late-1970s Delhi, the fictional series follows the investigation of a shocking crime involving missing children. The story centres on Sub-Inspector Jayprakash, played by Ali Fazal, who leads the hunt for those responsible while dealing with the emotional impact the case has on the victims' families.

The series is inspired by the infamous Ranga-Billa case, involving Kuljeet Singh alias Ranga and Jasbir Singh alias Billa, who were convicted and executed for the kidnapping, rape and murder of two teenagers in Delhi. The case was previously depicted in an episode of the Netflix series Black Warrant.

Raakh has been directed and executive produced by Prosit Roy, while Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket have created, written and co-directed the series. Dialogues have been penned by Ayush Trivedi.

The cast also includes Akash Makhija, Ramandeep Yadav, Divya Sharma, Vivaan Sharma, Anshul Chauhan, Rakesh Bedi and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in key roles.

Speaking about the project, Ali Fazal said he was drawn to the story because it goes beyond a conventional police investigation. He described Jayprakash as an introverted and flawed police officer striving to prove himself amid changing social and political circumstances.

Sonali Bendre, who portrays Mona Arora, said the series appealed to her because of its emotional depth and gave her an opportunity to explore new dimensions of performance.

Aamir Bashir plays Lt Col Ashok Arora, a disciplined man grappling with personal loss. The actor described the role as one of the most challenging of his career.

Produced by Endemol Shine India in association with BhaDiPa, Raakh is positioned as an investigative drama that also explores grief, morality and the lasting impact of violent crime on families.

The series will premiere on Prime Video on June 12.
