New Delhi, Jun 1: The Finance Ministry on Sunday issued a notification granting customs duty concessions on goods imported from Oman under the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which comes into effect from Jun 1.
The India-Oman CEPA was signed in Dec 2025 with the aim of strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the notification, importers seeking duty benefits under the agreement must establish to the satisfaction of the Deputy Commissioner of Customs or Assistant Commissioner of Customs that the goods for which the exemption is being claimed originate from the Sultanate of Oman.

“Provided that the exemption shall be available only if the importer proves to the satisfaction of the deputy commissioner of customs or assistant commissioner of customs, as the case may be, that the goods in respect of which the benefit of this exemption is claimed are of the origin of the Sultanate of Oman,” the notification stated.
Under the trade pact, India has offered customs duty concessions on 77.8 per cent of its total tariff lines, covering 12,556 product categories. The concessions account for nearly 94.8 per cent of India's imports from Oman in terms of value.
The agreement is expected to facilitate greater market access, enhance trade flows and strengthen economic ties between India and Oman by reducing tariff barriers on a wide range of goods.
