Colgate-Palmolive India raises toothpaste prices amid rising input costs

New Delhi, May 29: FMCG giant Colgate-Palmolive India has increased prices of several toothpaste products this month, with hikes ranging between 4 and 5 per cent across key variants, according to industry sources.

The latest revisions come amid continued pressure from rising raw material, packaging, and logistics costs affecting the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

According to a report by NDTV Profit, the company has revised prices of popular products including Colgate Dental Cream and Colgate Max Fresh.

Among the notable changes, the Colgate Dental Cream combo pack containing 200g + 100g toothpaste along with a toothbrush has become costlier by Rs 8 and is now priced at Rs 208.

The standalone 200g pack of Colgate Dental Cream has also seen a price increase of Rs 5, taking the revised retail price to Rs 135.

Similarly, the company has increased the price of the 100g Colgate Dental Cream pack by Rs 3, raising its price to Rs 73. However, the company has simultaneously increased the product grammage by nearly 10 per cent in that category.

The Colgate Max Fresh Blue 70g pack with 15 per cent extra content has also become more expensive by Rs 4 and is now retailing at Rs 83.

Premium toothpaste variants have witnessed sharper price hikes. The Visible White Purple 200g pack with 20 per cent extra content has reportedly become costlier by Rs 17, pushing its maximum retail price (MRP) to Rs 395.

Industry distributors indicated that low-priced packs are unlikely to see immediate price revisions because they cater primarily to highly price-sensitive mass-market consumers.

The recent hike reflects broader inflationary trends impacting FMCG companies, particularly in commodities, packaging materials, and transportation expenses.

Toothpaste continues to remain the company’s largest revenue-generating segment, contributing nearly 80 per cent of Colgate-Palmolive India’s overall business revenue, according to the report.

Meanwhile, shares of Colgate-Palmolive India were trading largely unchanged on Friday, closing around Rs 2,083 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
