Itanagar, May 28: The Arunachal Pradesh government has introduced a digitised Teacher Transfer and Posting System aimed at ensuring transparency, balanced staff deployment and stricter monitoring of attendance in schools under the state education department.
Announcing the rollout of the Arunachal Pradesh Teacher Transfer and Posting Policy Act on Wednesday, Education Commissioner Amjad Tak said the initiative is being implemented under the government’s ‘Reach to Teach’ programme to strengthen education delivery in remote and underserved regions.

A key feature of the reform is the Teacher Registry Portal, an online database that will manage transfer applications, service records and posting histories of teachers in a fully digital format.
Officials said that 16,068 teachers (97.4% of the workforce) and 107 ministerial staff members have already been registered on the portal.
The system will maintain detailed records of teachers, including transfer history, classroom performance, student academic outcomes and medical details, with the aim of improving accountability and reducing administrative irregularities.
According to the department, 2,064 intra-district transfer orders have already been issued, of which more than 1,000 have been implemented. In addition, over 600 teachers have applied for voluntary transfers through the online system.
The government has also clarified that teachers who do not opt for voluntary transfers may still be shifted based on staffing requirements and shortages, especially in remote schools.
The state is working to maintain a teacher-student ratio of 1:45 in interior regions to improve learning outcomes.
Officials warned that teachers who fail to join their new posting within 15 days may face action under the provisions of the Act.
The Teacher Registry Portal is expected to become fully functional by the first week of July, while the transfer system will be implemented in phases and made fully operational by May next year.
