Bhopal, May 24: Nearly two weeks after model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma died allegedly due to dowry harassment in Bhopal, a second post-mortem was conducted on her body on Sunday following demands by her family.

After the autopsy, Twisha’s body was handed over to her family members. Visuals from the site showed the body being brought out of AIIMS Bhopal and placed in a hearse van.

She is expected to be cremated later in the day. According to reports, Twisha’s family appealed to residents of Bhopal to join her funeral procession.

The family had refused to accept the body until a second post-mortem examination was carried out. Acting on their request and after receiving court approval, a fresh autopsy was conducted by a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi, around 12 days after her death on May 12.

Twisha, a resident of Noida, was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Bhopal. Her family has alleged that she was subjected to mental harassment over dowry demands.

Her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh have been named as accused in the case.

Samarth Singh was arrested from Jabalpur two days ago and has been sent to seven days of police custody.
