Toronto, May 19: The Konkan Organization of Toronto (KOT) marked a major milestone on April 18 celebrating its 15th anniversary with its first-ever dinner and dance event.
Held at the Kennedy Convention Center, the evening brought together over 200 guests, including members and well-wishers, for a night that honored community traditions while looking forward to a vibrant future for the community members.
A high-energy welcome
The celebration kicked off the moment guests arrived. The room was lit by the rhythm of a live Dhol, synchronized perfectly with high-energy Konkani music. Emcee Llewlyn D’mello set the tone for the night, leading a grand procession around the dance floor that included the KOT executive committee and guests, officially launching the festivities with fanfare.

Honoring roots and vision
Following the opening remarks, president Melwin Lobo took the stage to welcome the community. He introduced the current executive committee and shared KOT’s mission and long-term vision, emphasizing the importance of creating meaningful relationships across all generations.
The president honored the KOT founding members, acknowledging their dedication over the last 15 years. The evening also featured a sponsor felicitation segment, where key contributors were recognized for their steadfast commitment to the organization’s success.
Evening entertainment
As the formal proceedings concluded, the floor opened for entertainment. DJ Prem and DJ Joyson started the evening with a bang, keeping the dance floor packed with a mix of local and international hits, followed by everyone’s favorite line dancing and energetic "hook step" performances, with instructors led by members providing guidance to keep everyone moving.
Throughout the evening, Emcee Llewlyn D’Mello kept the excitement high by distributing various spot prizes. Guests were also given the opportunity to create memories of the event with the 360-video capture and photo booth, using a variety of themed props of the milestone event.
Celebrations and giveaways
The night continued with a special community touch as a cake-cutting ceremony was held for all guests celebrating their birthdays in April. This was followed by the highly anticipated raffle draw. Major prizes were handed out, including a 65" TV, hotel stays at the Sheraton and Marriott, and numerous gift cards for lucky winners.
Grand finale
The event concluded at 1 am with a high-energy dance session and a collective sing-along, bringing the community together for a grand finale that celebrated 15 years of unity and culture.
Gratitude
The KOT executive team extends its heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers who managed everything from registration and seating to audio-visual coordination. This memorable celebration was made possible through the combined efforts, many hands, and prayers of the entire community.
