Panaji, May 18: Goa has completed the first phase of Census 2027 involving House Listing Operations across urban and rural areas through a mobile phone application, officials said on Monday.
The month-long exercise, conducted from April 16 to May 15, covered extensive enumeration of houses, households and related amenities across the coastal state.
Officials said enumerators and supervisors carried out the operations efficiently with the support of training programmes organised before the exercise to familiarise field staff with the digital application and census procedures.

The use of a dedicated mobile application marks a shift towards technology-driven census operations aimed at improving transparency, accuracy and data management.
The Directorate of Census Operations, Goa, thanked the public for their cooperation and appreciated the efforts of enumerators, supervisors, district administration officials and local bodies for ensuring the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Officials said the data collected during the phase would serve as an important statistical base for governance, infrastructure planning and implementation of welfare schemes.
Preparations are now underway for the next phase of Census 2027, which will focus on population enumeration. Further details regarding the exercise are expected to be announced separately.
