Raipur, May 18: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Chhattisgarh on Sunday evening for an important three-day visit, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from party leaders and workers at Raipur Airport.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, Finance Minister O. P. Choudhary, and several senior ministers and MLAs, were present to receive him.
The visit is being viewed as highly significant for both the development agenda of the state and ongoing efforts to strengthen peace and security in the Bastar region.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said Chhattisgarh is steadily progressing toward better governance, peace, and infrastructure growth with the support of the Central government. He noted that under Amit Shah’s leadership and the “double-engine government” model, Naxal-related activities in Bastar have reduced considerably, while developmental projects in the region have gained momentum.
On Monday, Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate a fleet of Dial-112 emergency response vehicles in Raipur. The initiative is aimed at improving rapid emergency assistance and enhancing the efficiency of the state’s policing and public safety system, according to party sources.
After the Raipur programme, the Home Minister will travel to Bastar to attend a series of events related to regional development and internal security. The government continues to focus on transforming Bastar into a region free from Naxal influence while expanding economic and social opportunities.
The final leg of the visit on May 19 will feature a meeting of the Central Zonal Council in Bastar. Chief Ministers from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to participate in discussions centered on security coordination, development strategies, and inter-state cooperation.
Officials believe hosting such a major inter-state meeting in Bastar for the first time reflects growing confidence in the region’s transformation and could help establish a stronger national identity for Bastar as a developing and secure region.
The Chhattisgarh government is hopeful that the visit will accelerate ongoing initiatives related to infrastructure, governance, and security across the state.
