Mumbai, May 16: Director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, has reportedly generated massive buzz in Pakistan following its international OTT release on May 14.
According to content creator Maviya Umer Farooqui, the film climbed to the No 1 trending spot on Netflix in Pakistan soon after its release.
Farooqui also claimed that heavy traffic from viewers attempting to stream the film simultaneously briefly affected Netflix services in Pakistan. In a video shared online, he showed the film buffering repeatedly while trying to play it and stated that the issue was not related to his internet connection as his Wi-Fi was functioning properly.
In the video, Farooqui said audiences in Pakistan had stayed awake till midnight waiting for the film to drop on Netflix so they could start watching it immediately after release. He said this reflected the level of excitement surrounding the sequel in the country.
He further stated that while debates over whether the film depicted real events accurately were separate, viewers in Pakistan were keen to see how the story had been portrayed on screen. Referring to Ranveer Singh’s character, he said many people were already familiar with the subject matter and discussions over whether similar incidents had actually occurred in Lyari could happen later.
Farooqui later shared another Instagram video claiming that Dhurandhar: The Revenge had officially reached the No 1 trending position on Netflix in Pakistan.
In India, the espionage thriller is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on June 4, 2026. The platform is reportedly planning a special digital event for fans ahead of the release, while an uncut international version of the film has already been made available globally on Netflix.
The film was released worldwide on OTT on May 14, nearly eight weeks after its theatrical release.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.
