New Delhi, May 14: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a massive 7,500-page chargesheet against ten accused in connection with the deadly car bomb explosion near the Red Fort area in Delhi that claimed 11 lives last year, officials said on Thursday.

The high-intensity Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast took place on November 10 last year and had also left several people injured besides causing extensive damage to property.

According to the NIA, all ten accused, including the alleged mastermind Dr Umer Un Nabi, who is now deceased, were linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), an offshoot of Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

The chargesheet was filed before the NIA special court at Patiala House Courts in New Delhi.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had designated AQIS and its affiliated organisations as terrorist outfits in June 2018.

The agency stated that its investigation uncovered a major jihadi conspiracy through detailed scientific and forensic analysis.

According to the probe agency, several accused, including some radicalised medical professionals, were allegedly influenced by AQIS and AGuH ideology and were involved in planning and executing the attack.

The chargesheet has been filed under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The NIA stated that charges against Dr Umer Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama and former Assistant Professor of Medicine at Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad, are proposed to be abated following his death.

The other accused named in the chargesheet include Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla and Yasir Ahmad Dar.
