Noida, May 9: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has identified 28 instances of excessive visible road dust and accumulation of construction and demolition waste during an inspection carried out across multiple locations in Noida, officials said on Saturday.
According to officials, the assessment revealed shortcomings in regular road sweeping operations, dust suppression measures and scientific handling and disposal of construction and demolition waste at several stretches in the city.
“The commission has directed the concerned authorities to intensify dust mitigation measures through regular mechanised sweeping, targeted water sprinkling and timely lifting and disposal of accumulated construction and demolition waste,” an official said.

The inspection was conducted on Friday by 19 flying squad teams of the CAQM. The exercise focused on monitoring visible road dust levels and reviewing road cleaning and sweeping operations in Noida.
Officials noted that road dust continues to remain a major contributor to particulate pollution in urban areas and requires sustained and focused mitigation efforts.
Following the inspection, the CAQM stressed the importance of continuous field-level monitoring, better maintenance practices and strict accountability in implementing dust control measures.
