Giridih, May 8: At least four people were killed and more than 20 others injured after an out-of-control truck rammed into vehicles and pedestrians in a crowded market area of Giridih on Friday, triggering panic and chaos.
Giridih Deputy Commissioner Ramnivas Yadav confirmed the deaths.
The accident occurred in the busy Isari Bazaar area when the speeding truck allegedly lost control and ploughed through roadside vehicles and people moving through the market.

Officials said several injured persons were in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise further.
Eyewitnesses said the truck suddenly entered the crowded market at high speed and kept hitting vehicles and pedestrians before finally coming to a halt.
“The truck entered the market uncontrollably and kept hitting everything in its path,” a local resident said.
The impact created scenes of panic as damaged vehicles and debris were strewn across the road while injured victims cried for help.
Locals immediately rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts, pulling trapped people from beneath damaged vehicles and wreckage before emergency teams arrived.
Police personnel from the Dumri Police Station reached the area soon after receiving information and launched rescue and relief operations.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment while authorities worked to clear the market area.
Police have seized the truck involved in the incident and initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Officials are yet to release the identities of the deceased.
The incident triggered tension and anger in the locality, with residents demanding strict action against those responsible.
