Calangute, Apr 27: A tragic road accident on the Calangute–Baga stretch in Goa claimed two lives early Sunday morning after two scooters collided head-on. Each vehicle was carrying a pillion rider, making four people involved in the crash—all of whom were reportedly employed in the hospitality sector.

According to Goa Police, 25-year-old Anil Ughrejiya, a resident of Candolim originally from Gujarat, died instantly at the scene around 6 am. Another victim, Arun Gudachi (28), a Guirim resident from Rajasthan, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed.

The two remaining individuals injured in the collision have been admitted to Goa Medical College (GMC) and are currently undergoing treatment.

Police officials stated that the impact of the crash was severe, leading to fatal and serious injuries. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and loss of control may have been contributing factors in the accident.

Authorities have registered a case of accidental death, and further investigation is ongoing.
