Kanpur, Apr 25: A 24-year-old lawyer allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of a court building in Kanpur, triggering panic within the premises.
The deceased has been identified as Priyanshu Srivastava. He was rushed to Ursula Horsman Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said Priyanshu had posted a two-page handwritten note in Hindi on his WhatsApp status before the incident, detailing personal struggles and incidents from his childhood that allegedly caused him emotional distress.

In the note, he recounted an incident from his early childhood where he was punished by his father for drinking juice without permission, which he said left a lasting impact. He also mentioned facing pressure during his school years regarding academic choices and alleged repeated humiliation.
According to police, the note stated that he felt unable to cope any longer. He reportedly urged authorities not to harass his mother and requested that no action be taken against his father. He also wrote that he did not want his father to touch his body.
Officials said the authenticity of the note is being verified.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Satyajeet Gupta said that CCTV footage from the court premises is being examined and a detailed investigation is underway.
The body has been sent for postmortem, and further inquiries are in progress.
