Washington, Apr 24: US President Donald Trump has ruled out the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, stating that such weapons should never be used by any country.
Responding to a question from reporters on whether he was considering a nuclear strike, Trump dismissed the idea outright. “No. Why would I use a nuclear weapon when we’ve totally decimated Iran without it? A nuclear weapon should never be allowed to be used by anybody,” he said.
Trump reiterated his administration’s stance on Iran’s nuclear programme, calling for the complete dismantling of its uranium enrichment capabilities and the removal of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear activities. During the recent conflict, the US carried out strikes on multiple Iranian nuclear facilities, claiming to have severely damaged them. However, Iran has consistently rejected these claims, asserting that its strategic capabilities remain intact.
Iran has also firmly stated that it will not transfer its enriched uranium abroad. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the option of handing over uranium to the US is not under consideration.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf criticised Trump’s statements, accusing him of making false claims about the conflict and ongoing negotiations.
The developments come against the backdrop of a fragile ceasefire between the two sides, with diplomatic efforts continuing amid deep mistrust and heightened geopolitical tensions.
