Maruti Suzuki sets record production, targets major capacity expansion in India

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 23: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported its highest-ever annual vehicle production, reaching 23.4 lakh units in FY2025–26, marking a major milestone for the country’s largest passenger vehicle maker.

The company said it is the only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in India to achieve this scale of annual output and also the only global facility of its parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation, to reach such production levels.

Maruti Suzuki has set an ambitious long-term target to expand annual production capacity to around 40 lakh units, supported by ongoing investments in manufacturing infrastructure and supply chain integration.

According to the company, models such as Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga, and Baleno were among the top contributors to production, with each crossing the two lakh-unit mark during the year.

Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the achievement reflects strong customer trust, evolving demand trends, and collaboration across the company’s ecosystem of employees, suppliers, and dealers.

He also credited supportive policy measures and improved market conditions for helping sustain high production levels, particularly during periods of strong demand.

Maruti Suzuki currently operates four manufacturing plants located in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, along with Hansalpur in Gujarat. Together, these facilities have a combined installed capacity of about 24 lakh units annually.

As part of its expansion strategy, the company has also identified land for a fifth manufacturing facility at Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, Gujarat. Once operational, the new plant is expected to add an additional 10 lakh units of annual capacity.

The automaker said the expansion is aimed at meeting rising domestic demand while strengthening its position in both domestic and export markets.
