Kulti, Apr 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday projected the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections as a decisive opportunity to “free the state of infiltrators,” while promising that a BJP government would generate one lakh jobs annually for youth through a transparent, merit-based system.
Addressing his second rally of the day in Kulti, near the industrial belts of Asansol and Barakar, Shah recalled the region’s rich legacy in iron ore production and pledged to restore its lost industrial prominence. He alleged that the once-thriving industrial hub had declined under the present administration and assured that a BJP-led government would revive it by acting against illegal mining, shutting down polluting sponge iron units, and creating new employment opportunities for local youth.
Sharpening his attack, Shah accused the ruling government of depriving deserving candidates of jobs and distributing them unfairly. He said the BJP would ensure equal and fair opportunities for young people every year.

Reiterating his party’s stand on illegal immigration, Shah said that once in power, the BJP would identify and deport every illegally settled foreign national from the state. He also alleged that the current government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was patronising syndicates, mafias, and criminal elements, and vowed to dismantle such networks.
Targeting Mamata Banerjee, Shah claimed that her focus was on promoting her nephew Abhishek Banerjee politically, asserting that her “dream” of making him chief minister would not succeed. He further accused the state government of failing to ensure women’s safety, citing incidents reported from Sandeshkhali, RG Kar Hospital, South Calcutta Law College, and a medical college in Durgapur. He stated that women should not be restricted from stepping out after 7 pm and assured that a BJP government would guarantee their safety even at midnight.
Seeking to allay concerns, Shah said that all existing welfare schemes for the poor would continue under a BJP government, along with the introduction of additional benefits. He also reiterated the party’s intention to implement a Uniform Civil Code in the state, claiming it would end practices such as multiple simultaneous marriages within certain communities.
Issuing a warning ahead of the elections, Shah cautioned those attempting to disrupt the polling process, stating that strict action would be taken against any such activities. He also promised a strong crackdown on corruption, syndicate operations, and mafia networks, asserting that those involved in scams would be brought to justice.
Shah emphasised that a BJP government would work towards restoring law and order, reviving industry, and ensuring transparent governance across West Bengal.
