Gurugram, Apr 21: Authorities in Gurugram have busted a racket involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit Mounjaro injections, arresting two persons in connection with the case, officials said on Monday.
According to Drug Control Officer Amandeep Chauhan, a nationwide alert has been issued to trace fake injections, while investigations are underway to uncover the full network behind the operation.
The Health Department team conducted a raid at a residential society in Sector 62 and arrested two accused, including the alleged mastermind. Officials said the accused were importing raw materials from China and producing fake injections from a flat in the society.

The illegal products were reportedly being sold through the B2B platform IndiaMART.
Mounjaro is a weekly injectable drug used for treating Type 2 Diabetes and is also known to aid in weight loss, making it a high-demand medication in recent times.
Officials said the racket came to light after a tip-off about fake injections being circulated in the city. Acting on the information, a team had earlier seized injections worth around Rs 70 lakh from a vehicle in DLF Phase 4 on Saturday.
Further investigation led to the raid on Monday, where authorities found that the injections were being prepared by mixing water with raw drugs inside the flat. Packaging, barcode labelling, and sealing were also carried out at the same location, where machines used for these processes were recovered.
Initially, Mujjamil, a delivery agent from DLF Phase 4, was arrested. Subsequently, the main ????? Avi Sharma, a resident of Gurugram, was also taken into custody. Mujjamil is reported to be from Uttar Pradesh.
Officials have shared batch numbers of the counterfeit injections with health departments across the country to help identify and seize such products.
Authorities warned that fake injections pose serious health risks and urged the public to remain cautious. Experts said the growing demand for such drugs has led to the emergence of counterfeit products in the market.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the scale of distribution and identify others involved in the racket.
